My 15 year-old son and I have been training with Julie for over one year. We are both very impressed with our progress. Julie’s knowledge of effective training techniques is only matched by her energy and positive communication skills. She has proven herself to be a great trainer who I would recommend to any aspiring athlete.
Julie Young is an amazing coach and mentor. She takes the time to carefully plan work-outs that are not only geared to a specific event, but also to enhance form, strategy, and overall enjoyment of your athletic endeavors. Julie has the knowledge, background and experience that enable her to understand both the mental and physical issues that an athlete may have during training and performance. I know that the training Julie gave me leading-up to Western States allowed me to have a better event than I ever could have imagined.

Julie has helped me to set training and performance goals. She is in-tune to my strengths and weaknesses as a rider. In a little over a year, I have elevated to a level of fitness and ability well beyond what I was ever capable of achieving on my own. My confidence and dramatic improvement has helped me surpass the goals set last year.
I enjoy the variety and progression of the training plans and I really appreciate the pep talks and vote of confidence Julie puts behind each training block. I go out each day knowing the purpose of my ride and how it contributes to my strength and skills while at the same time I am enjoying the riding more than ever before.
Having been a top tier athlete all of my life… Collegiate Scholarship Athlete – Swimming, Swimming National Championship(s) Participant and All-ACC Conference Swimmer, it was very easy for me to pick-up and become a ‘good’ cyclist.
With Julie’s training and coaching, I’ve started to tickle the very good cyclist category. And look forward to even better things in the future.
Since starting to race in April 2004, I’ve managed to work my way up the ranks very quickly. However, once I moved up to an elite (Cat 2) level, I struggled to make it into the top 10 final results. With Julie’s coaching over the past year, I have improved my climbing, overall endurance and ultimately achieved results:
- Vacaville Grand Prix – 2nd Place for Masters 35+ 1/2/3
Folsom Challenge Crit – 1st Place for Masters 35+ 1/2/3
Folsom Two Bridge Circuit – 1st Place for Masters 35+ 1/2/3
Folsom Overall Omnium (3 stages) – 2nd Place for Masters 35+ 1/2/3
Julie’s leadership, training programs and enthusiasm have made this all obtainable. She has made it possible to overcome huge odds and some major time constraints. With the recent addition of our daughter, Julie has made it possible to compete at a high level while managing the time constraints of life, family, work, et al…
Julie’s training fuels miles of smiles….Logan
